We will start our tour in Johannesburg where we will explore the Soweto neighborhood, see the Regina Mundi Church, visit the former homes of Winnie and Nelson Mandela, and also of Bishop Desmond Tutu. A visit to the Apartheid Museum is also included this day. Then we'll take a day trip to the Cradle of Humankind where we'll visit the Maropeng Visitor Center and observe ancient fossils during a guided tour of the Sterkfontein Caves. Next we'll travel along the Panorama Route enjoying a toboggan ride at Long Tom Misty Mountain, take an elevator down to the forest floor of Graskop Gorge, visit a local school, then travel on to Kruger National Park. We will enjoy a full-day game drive in Kruger National Park, hoping to see the Big 5, and on the day we leave the park we'll take a morning bush walk. Our overnight flight will bring us to the city of Dublin, and we will be off on our great adventure. We will first visit Trinity College to see the Book of Kells and then take a walking tour of the city. The next day we'll have a guided bus tour of Dublin and will see Georgian Squares; O'Connell Street; St. Stephen's Green; Phoenix Park; among other things. We'll take a look inside St. Patrick's Cathedral, and have a little bit of free time to explore Dublin on our own. The next day we will travel to Belfast where we'll have a guided tour and check out the Titanic Belfast Museum. Then we'll travel by ferry to Cairnryan then on to Edinburgh via Alloway. We will participate in the Battle of Bannockburn Experience. While in Edinburgh we will have a guided tour and visit Edinburgh Castle. We will also hike up to Arthur's Seat. Then we'll head away from the capital and take a day trip to Stirling where we'll visit Stirling Castle and the Trossachs, see the William Wallace Monument and a Sheep Dog Demonstration. Next we'll leave Edinburgh behind and travel to the Highland, stopping along the way to see if we can spot Nessie at Loch Ness. Then we'll spend a couple of days exploring the Highlands, from Glencoe to Inverness. We'll take the train or fly from Inverness back to Glasgow, where we'll spend a couple of days sightseeing and meeting up with some Girl Guides before we depart for home. We will fly down into San Jose, Costa Rica. Our second day in country we will take a tour of a coffee plantation on the way to Arenal Region, where we'll visit Arenal National Park. While we are there, we will enjoy a kayaking trip on Lake Arenal, visit La Fortuna Waterfall, participate in a cultural exchange with locals, and visit the Arenal Hot Springs. Then we'll travel on to Monteverde. We'll do a local foods workshop, and have a zipline adventure through the Costa Rican canopy and cloud forest. Then it's on to the Central Pacific Coast where we'll visit the Rainforest Adventure Park and enjoy a crocodile safari boat cruise. After that we'll head to Manuel Antonio National Park and spend the day there. Next we'll travel back to San Jose through Sarchí, where we'll enjoy a folklore evening learning about the Costa Rican Culture. We will start our tour of Japan in Tokyo where we will have a guided sightseeing tour to visit Ginza, the Imperial Palace Plaza, the Metropolitan Government Building, the Asakusa Kannon Temple, the Harajuku shopping district, the Meiji Shinto Shrine, Akihabara, and Electric Town where we'll have a district-wide scavenger hunt. The next day we will check out Tokyo Disney. Then we travel to Hakone via Kamakura, where we will see the Great Buddha of Kamakura, the Hachimangu Shrine, and have some time to explore Kamakura on our own. Then we will travel via Owakudani and Fuji-Hkone-Izu National Park to Odawara. We will visit Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, take a cruise on Lake Ashi, ride the Mount Komagatake cable car, and see Odawara Castle before we travel by bullet train to Kyoto. In Kyoto we will tour with an expert local guide and visit the Golden Pavillion, see a kimono show at the Nishijin Textile Center, visit Nijo Castle, and visit the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine. The next day in Kyoto we will tour the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, then we can either explore Kyoto on our own, or we can do a guided half-day excursion. We will take the bullet train to Hiroshima where we will first visit the Peace Memorial Park and Museum. Next we travel by ferry to Miyajima Island and visit Miyajima Park and Itsukushima Shrine. We'll start this trip in Germany, when we fly overnight to Munich. While in Much we'll take a walking tour and see the Munich Cathedral, New Town Hall and Hofbräuhaus. The next day we'll have a guided bus tour of Munich and will visit the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. Then we'll leave Germany and head to Innsbruck, Austria where we will have some time to explore on our own before continuing on to Venice, Italy. In Venice, we'll see a glass-blowing demonstration, visit the Doge's Palace, and take a guided tour of the city. Then we will travel on to Rome, where the highlights include a guided tour of Vatican City, an Italian cooking class, a guided tour of Rome, and a self-guided walking tour. From Rome we will travel to Florence where we'll get a guided tour, before moving on to Adelboden, Switzerland. In Adelboden we will visit Our Chalet World Centre and take part in a pinning ceremony there. During this amazing trip we will fly overnight to New Zealand, crossing the International Date Line. We will start our trip on the South Island of New Zealand, in Christchurch, visiting some Girl Guides and doing some sightseeing. After a few days, we'll fly back to Auckland, then our EF Tour will start in Rotorua where we will visit the Whakarewarewa Geothermal Area and Maori Village. We will take a Duck Tour in Rotorua, ride the Skyline Gondola, learn about jade carving in a local craftsman's shop, and enjoy an authentic Hangi feast. Then we will watch a sheep and dog show at the Agrodome before heading to Auckland and touring there. The next stop is Sydney, where we will visit the National Opal Collection, enjoy a Sydney Harbor Cruise, visit the Wild Life Sydney Zoo and the Sydney Tower, and take a walking tour of the Rocks neighborhood. The next day in Sydney we will visit the Taronga Zoo and the Sydney Opera House. Then it's on to Cairns, where we will take a cruise to the Great Barrier Reef and snorkel with a Marine Biologist. The next day we will visit Kuranda. We will have some free time in Cairns before flying to Honolulu, where we will visit the Dole Plantation and the Waimea Valley, followed by a luau in the evening. After a good night's sleep, we will take a bus tour of the city and visit Pax Lodge for a pinning ceremony. Our next day in London we'll enjoy a Thames River cruise, ride the London Eye, and have some free time to do whatever we like. Then we'll travel under the English Channel to Paris. We'll take a walking tour of the Latin Quarter that afternoon. The next day we'll have a guided bus tour of Paris, and there is an optional excursion available to the Palace of Versailles. The next day we'll visit the Louvre and have some free time, and then it's on to Adelboden, Switzerland, where we'll visit Our Chalet World Centre and take part in a pinning ceremony. Then it's on to Lucerne, where we'll visit Mount Pilatus and take a walking tour of Lucerne. In the evening we'll enjoy a Swiss Folklore Evening. The next day we'll drive on t o Florence, Italy. We'll have a guided tour of Florence and participate in a fresco art workshop. Then we'll move on to Rome where we'll have a guided tour of the city, and also Vatican City, plus a self-guided walking tour. After that we'll bid farewell to Italy and head home.
